John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits and many of them inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado. He eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be inducted. Denver has been the symbol of the state to everyone around the world. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other end of the planet, someone who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first thing they say is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads - cowritten with Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first time he heard early versions that the song would be a big popular. The song was performed on stage in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days afterward.
